TAAF State Championship. Ellie Moss competes in the youth girls 14 under division. 7th place with a new PR of 8'-9".
Ellie will be a freshman at Keller High. Hayden Whitt of Keller High, also a freshman, won the youth boys 14 under with a jump of 11'-6". Sam Retzloff, junior from Argyle, had a great summer clearing 15', 15'1", and 15'3". Unfortunately, Sam has an off day and fails to clear his opening height of 14'. (Happens to the best of vaulters)
Hayden Clark, senior from Southlake, wins the young men 18 under division with a new PR of 16'1". Had decent attempts at 16'7".
Congrats to all!

Saturday June 14-
Shotgun Sam Retzloff competes at the TAAF meet in Southlake. He enters the competition at 13' and clears it with plenty of height. Passes to 14' and makes the bar easily. Bar goes to 14' 6" and gets it on his first jump. He then clears 15' and 15' 1" on his first jumps. Great day for Sam and all this into a 10 mph headwind!
Great Job.

TEXAS TECH, LUBBOCK
BOYS:
Four vaulters are left with the bar at 15' 6". Monte Willett of Grapevine clears the height on his first jump. Cameron Manchester of Amarillo High also clears the bar on his first attempt. David Taylor clears the height on his second attempt. The bar goes to 16'. David Taylor clears the bar for the win and Monte and Cameron have the jump off of the century. Both vaulters must take 9 jumps with the bar going up and down. These guys would battle for about 35 minutes with Monte Willett finally clinching the second place when he jumped 15' 6" and Cameron Manchester missed.
GIRLS:
Taylor Theodore of Keller High enters the competition at 10' 6". Clears the bar on her first attempt. At 11', she blows through her pole. Brook Townzen of Burleson clears 11' on her first attempt. The bar goes to 11'6". Brook misses her first attempt. Taylor must clear the bar on her first jump to go into the lead. She makes the bar clean. Nobody else clears this height. Taylor gets a second place finish and is happy for it. Shade Weygandt enters the competition at 12' and clears it with ease. We all knew she would! Taylor takes three good shots at 12' and is done for the day. Shade (#2 in the nation) goes on to clear 13' 10" for a new PR, regional, and state record. She clears the height with ease. Congrats to the competetors in Lubbock.
SAN ANGELO
Michael Mcleod of Denton Ryan High School clears 15' to place second behind Jeff Rodrigues of Fossil Ridge. Michael is a junior and has had a great season consistantly clearing 15' or better.
ODESSA
"Shotgun" Sam Retzloff of Argyle nails every height without a miss, clears 14' for second place. This sophomore has worked hard to get this achievment and dont be suprised if he pulls out a 15' jump at state.
DENTON
Alex Weber jumps 10'6" for second place. The senior from Highland Park is quite a competitor. Along with track, she has been envolved in cross country, swimming, and competed in a triathlon in Germany last summer.

EXPECTATIONS FOR THESE VAULTERS:
Monte Willett-16'3"
Michael Mcleod-16'
Sam Retzloff-15'
Taylor Theodore-12'6"
Alex Weber-11'

GOOD LUCK AT STATE!
