Weather has played havok with the vaulters. Despite the weather, polecats have had good performances. Freshmen from Keller HS have gotten marks of 12-6 and are on the verge of getting new heights. Southlake's Hayden Clark has posted a jump of 16' in his first meet of the season and is looking for a new PR. Sam Retzloff of Argyle has cleared 15' twice and could be closing in on a new PR as well. Michael Mcleod of Denton Ryan has a best of 14-6, but with a change of grip should make a difference of a foot. Girls doing good with Southlake's girls Megan Whitson (10') and Kimbo Parr(10-6) ready to make improvements on their marks.
As the season gets closer to the District meets, thing should start to change.
Keller vaulters had a good start on Thursday. They went 1 and 2 in the varsity division. Will Darden a junior, cleared 12-6 moving through poles. Freshman Hayden Whitt jumped 12-6 as well. Close at 13. Will placed 1st and Hayden got 2nd. Jv vaulters went 1 and 2 as well. Freshmen Jared Wagner cleared 10 and is close to 10-6. Cameron Mills cleared 12-6 as well blasting his personal record of 11-6. Good job!
The weather was great and several vaulters got new PRs. Freshman Ellie Moss upped her PR with a jump of 9'. Kevin Wang, eighth grader from Keller MS. jumped 8-6. His previous record was 6-6. Freshman Cameron Mills jumped 10'. His best jump up to that point was 8-6. Kevin Haeferland of Decatur jumped 10' to match his PR. Kevin is an eighth grader. Sydney Brink jumped 8-6 after a month of drills. Her timing is off a little but technically her jump is great. It is great to have her jumping again after not vaulting last year. Dan Perry is an eighth grader from Keller MS. He had a PR. in the spring of 8-6. Today he vaulted 10-6 and moved up 4 pole sizes. Sophomore Tyler Heimdahl of Sanger jumped the highest with 11'. It was a fun day!
TAAF State Championship. Ellie Moss competes in the youth girls 14 under division. 7th place with a new PR of 8'-9".
Ellie will be a freshman at Keller High. Hayden Whitt of Keller High, also a freshman, won the youth boys 14 under with a jump of 11'-6". Sam Retzloff, junior from Argyle, had a great summer clearing 15', 15'1", and 15'3". Unfortunately, Sam has an off day and fails to clear his opening height of 14'. (Happens to the best of vaulters)
Hayden Clark, senior from Southlake, wins the young men 18 under division with a new PR of 16'1". Had decent attempts at 16'7".
Congrats to all!
